Clothing Drive 2008

Youth Achieve and William & Mary School of Law Join Together to Help Local Area Youths

In November 2008, Youth Achieve collaborated with the William & Mary School of Law in orchestrating a professional clothing drive to benefit needy Maryland youths. In a little over a month, the students donated over 150 shirts, 6 men's suits, 5 women's suits, 15 ties, 10 sports jackets, 8 pair of slacks, 2 skirts, 4 sweaters, 1 purse and litany of other quality items.

Thanks to another showing of unexpected generosity, the clothes were cleaned free of charge by a local Maryland drycleaner. The drycleaner was also kind enough to donate all abandoned professional clothing currently in its possession. With that donation, the total number of items collected by Youth Achieve rose to over 300!

The professional clothes donated by William & Mary Law students will ensure that Youth Achieve can provide needy youths with the attire and confidence necessary to successfully compete in future college and employment interviews.
